Long Time not Write

Happy 2019!

It’s been a while since I have wrote anything for this blog. To tell you the truth, the tips I gave in Conceiving a baby, conceiving a future: ups and downs and a few free tips. really worked out for me. I am pregnant and waiting to meet my little boy. I am now at week 37 and it always amazes me to feel that little spark of life inside my belly. I am priviledge to know that feeling. I am rarely excited about something but now I catch myself thinking of what he’ll be looking like, what will be his cycle of sleep and etc. I can’t wait to hold him in my arms and present him to his big bro.

So why did it take me sooooo long before posting anything new and pregnancy related on my blog? Simply, I don’t have the pregnancy that is very inspiring to write about. Maybe I realized just now that I should write about it to bring comfort to others going through «not so dreamy» pregnancies. Really, everybody is different and react differently to this big change and hormonal dance. For me it means very low blood pressure, weakness, all the symptoms of a burnout except for the sadness that generally comes along.

This summer was the hottest in a long time and I had to stay inside de whole time to prevent myself from fainting and scaring off my boyfriend with my health.

After that, I was unable to stand up for more than 5 minutes. Worthless to mention all the feelings of guilt and uselessness that came with this condition.

So, soon, I will be meeting with that new marvel of My world and forget all about the past few months. Life is wonderful and every moment deserves our full attention. In My next post, I will tell you about what I have learnt from this experience.

Poulet épicé

Une petite recette facile pour le vendredi soir, avec ce que vous avez dans l’armoire et le frigo.



  • 4 poitrines de poulet désossées et sans peau
  • 2 c. à soupe d’huile d’olive pour dorer le poulet
  • Sel et poivre


  • 1/8 T huile d’olive
  • 1 c. à soupe de moutarde de Dijon
  • 1 c. à soupe de miel
  • 1 c. à thé de vinaigre balsamique de type épais et plus sucré
  • Une pincée de flocons de piment ou plus ou Sriracha, au goût


    Préparer l’assaisonnement en mélangeant tous les ingrédients et en les fouettant bien à la fourchette
    Faire chauffer la poêle et ajouter l’huile.
    Saisir le poulet de chaque côté pour qu’il soit bien doré
    Réduire le feu au minimum
    Verser l’assaisonnement sur les poitrines de poulet
    Couvrir et laisser mijoter
    1. Tourner les poitrines lorsqu’elles sont bien dorées d’un côté. Répétez.
    Lorsqu’elles sont cuites, augmenter la chaleur et faites réduire la sauce, à découvert.

Servez sur un nid de nouilles ou de légumes. Bon appétit!

La trop facile trempette pour légumes!

C’est l’été et « on a pas le temps de cuisiner! »

Invités de dernière minute? Oui! Crudités au frigo? Check!

Trempette? Oh, oh. Pas de panique!

Trempette aux 4 ingrédients pour l’été.


  • A parts égales: yogourt nature, fromage ricotta, mayonnaise.
  • Au goût: moutarde de Dijon.
  • Bien sûr, sel et poivre.

Mélangez, laissez reposer quelques minutes et servez 🙂

Voilà une recette de base qui peut être agrémentée de mille et une façons! Transformez-La en marinade ou essayez les combinaisons suivantes:

  • Un peu d’origan, de thym, d’ail et de citron en ajout pour retrouver la Méditerranée.
  • Un peu de sauce piquante et de miel, pour un kick inattendu.

Variez et amusez-vous!

Molasses is the Secret Ingredient for Making that Tasty Brow Chinese Macaroni you Only Dreamed Of.

Ever wondered what to put in that macaroni to make it look and taste exactly like the one you ate at the Chinese restaurant/buffet?  I did. First, I thought soy sauce was the secret, turns out it is only part of the solution.  Way too salty to be the only ingredient browning the macaroni… hum… let’s Wordpress it!

Here you go, finding this amazing and easy recipe, ready in 1/2 hour (4 servings):

Yum-Me Chinese Macaroni


  • 3 cups of cooked macaroni (al dente)
  • 1 pound of raw medium ground beef or porc (or a mix)
  • 1 1/2 Cup of raw vegetables sliced or chopped (put more if you like but you will have to adjust the liquid)
    • My macaroni will have anything that is left in the fridge: celery, mushrooms, green and red peppers, zucchinis, onions, cauliflowers.
  • 1 table spoon of olive oil

The Sauce

  • 1 1/4 Cup of beef broth
  • 3 crushed garlic cloves or 1 tea spoon of prepared garlic
  • 1/8 cup of soy sauce
  • 1/8 cup of molasses
  • 1 table spoon of Worcestershire sauce
  • Black pepper to taste


  1. In a super large frying pan heat the olive oil,
  2. fry the veggies until tender (save into a bowl aside)
  3. Use the same hot frying pan to brown the meat
  4. Meanwhile, mix the ingredient for the sauce.
  5. When the meat is half-way cooked, pour half of the sauce in the frying pan
  6. Let it cook on medium heat for about 3 to 5 minutes or until the meat has absorbed half the sauce.
  7. Add the softened veggies (without the water at the bottom of the bowl!) and the macaroni
  8. Mix well
  9. Pour what is left of the sauce
  10. Grind and add a dash of black pepper
  11. Let it simmer on low heat until the liquid is completely absorbed
  12. Serve immediately

Winning the lottery

Conceiving a baby is something tricky just like winning the lottery.  Did you know that, and even in the best conditions, you have 25% chances of getting pregnant on the most fertile days?  This was not something that I was aware of when I got pregnant with my fist son.  It took us less than 2 months before I tested positive. Yay!

Now, it’s different for us. We are trying to conceive a second time and it’s been couple of months, so I could not help myself but to surf the net for different reasons.  For starter, I got symptoms of early pregnancy at my last two cycles.  Especially this time where I tested negative a dozen times plus on the blood test that turned out to be negative. Now, I know some people will testify that they tested negative until their body actually showed they were pregnant, but for now I think I am just crazy. I was before wanting to have a baby, I don’t see why it would have changed after giving birth to my first son.

Pregnancy Tests – Home Tests

If you are like me, this floating period of uncertainty between conception and periods will drive you nuts. If you are too excited (not to say crazy up the wall) to get pregnant, you will pause to « listen to your body » and feel all potential changes in your general health condition. And folks, that is dangerous!  You body could tell you the truth and you might not want to listen OR your body could play mind games with you. That trickster! The best way to find out is to keep busy until your next periods. If they don’t show up, you might be lucky enough to be pregnant.

It’s a long run (2 weeks or a little more) before you can take the pregnancy tests and produce enough hCG hormones to have reliable results.  If you test too soon, the home test will be negative. Good thing is that after implantation, the level of hormone doubles up each day. For my first son, I tested 4 times before the positive result.  This time, I tested so many times that I had moments full of hope (and eating everything that I am craving for because, oh well, I am pregnant); and other times where I feel disoriented and confused because it is not yet the time for testing and deep down I know it might not be it….

Speaking of Testing with a capital « T ». I found myself to be very compulsive with the testing. (Me!?) As months go by, I am thinking I should buy tests at the dollar store if I don’t want to end up ruined (rolling eyes). Maybe that’s just me but I am pretty sure I am not the only one ;). Soooo, next time, I will at least wait to skip my period before I do a 6035ab2979f96a7446cf6c0505b65c38--pregnancy-announcement-dog-new-baby-announcementsdarn test and probably divorce because my boyfriend will not want to stay with the crazy old lady… and oh yeah, I am 37. To keep me busy, I read about pregnancy (obsessive, me?!).

A Few Tips

If you don’t like to read that much, let me summarize for you.  Here are a few tips that I gathered on different reliable websites:

  1. Have fun with your partners and agree on how disciplined you want your couple to be to make this happen. This will save you some arguments or crisis.
  2. Take care of yourself before getting pregnant
    • eat well
    • exercise
    • have fun
    • breathe
    • dance to shake the stress away or whatever your thing is
  3. Drink water
  4. Take folic acid (before and during pregnancy)
  5. Check your cervical mucus, ovulation cycles are different for every woman. Eggwhite-like consistency is a pretty good indicator you are ovulating.mucus cycles
  6. Stay positive. It will happen, either naturally or with a little push.  Keep calm and make this baby!
  7. Technology at your Service. There’s an app for that!

Some phone App will help you track your cycles and even send your reminders of important days with regards to ovulation. My favorites are Flo and Glow:


Lastly, there is a bunch of websites and forum about pregnancy.  I just love the Baby Centre Website. They have so much information available and a positive way to word it. When you’ll become pregnant, even more when you’ll be pregnant of your first child, you will love the Pregnancy section where you learn all about how you and your baby transforms into a family.

2 Salmons Spaghetti Recipe – easy and absolute delight

Comfort food does not have to be fried or fast food. Here is a super easy recipe, ready in 20 minutes, that will convince you!
You will want to share it with all your friends once you’ve tried. 😉


  • 340g of raw spaghettis
  • 1 cooked small salmon filet
  • ½ smoked salmon pack of 300g
  • 2 small ripened tomatoes cut in half then in slices
  • 1 ½ Cup of sliced mushrooms
  • 1 bunch of minced green onions (or more to taste)
  • ½ Cup of milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste


  1. In a big saucepan, get the water to boil to cook the pastas following instructions on the package. At the end of the cooking time, pick at least 1 cup of the water before draining. (This will help thickening the sauce.)
  2. Meanwhile, cook the salmon either by poaching or frying in a pan.
  3. In a big pan, brown the mushrooms. Once browning is satisfying, add the tomatoes, the cooked salmon and ½ of the minced green onions.
  4. Once they are smoothened, add a bit of the pasta water to wet.
  5. Add the smoked salmon and the rest of the green onions.
  6. Add the milk.
  7. Seasoned to taste.
  8. Let it simmer on low for about 5 minutes. Add pasta water the keep the sauce-like consistency.
  9. Add the spaghettis and serve immediately.
  10. Enjoy!

Pssstttt! This makes perfect lunch and is 100% Logan approved (my son).

Recette de spaghetti aux 2 saumons facile et délicieuse

Les repas réconfortants n’ont pas besoin d’être frits ou de la restauration rapide. Voici une recette facile, prête en 20 minutes, qui vous convaincra!Vous aurez envie de la partager avec tous vos amis.


  • 340g de spaghettis non cuits
  • I petit filet de saumon cuit
  • ½ pqt de saumon fumé de 300g
  • 2 petites tomates bien mûres coupées en 2 puis en tranches
  • 1.5 T de champignons tranchés
  • 1 botte d’oignons verts émincés (ou plus si vous aimez)
  • ½ T de lait
  • Sel et poivre au goût


  1. Dans un grand chaudron, mettre l’eau à bouillir pour cuire les pâte. Lorsqu’elle bout, suivre les indications sur l’emballage pour cuire vos pâte à la perfection. À la fin de la cuisson, prélever au moins une tasse de l’eau des pâtes avant d’égoutter. (Pour épaissir la sauce plus tard.)
  2. Pendant ce temps, faites pocher ou cuire votre saumon. Salez et poivrez pour assaisonner.
  3. Dans une grande casserole, faites revenir les champignons. Quand ils sont bien dorés, ajouter les tomates, le saumon cuit et la moitié des oignons verts hachés.
  4. Quand tout est semi-tendre, ajouter un peu de l’eau des pâtes pour mouiller le tout.
  5. Ajouter le saumon fumé et le reste des oignons verts.
  6. Ajouter le lait.
  7. Assaisonner au gout.
  8. Laisser mijoter à feu doux pendant 5 minutes en ajoutant un peu d’eau des pâtes si c’est nécessaire pour la consistance de la sauce.
  9. Incorporer les spaghettis et service immédiatement.
  10. Savourez

How to be a leader


I have to share this video that I found on LinkedIn today. This is a well invested 4ish minutes of your time, maybe the best 4 minutes of the week.

This gentleman is talking about positive leadership in the workplace, providing real examples. This is totally translatable in communities and in your family. Being a leader, a leader that everyone will follow, means that you have integrated that you are nothing alone. True leaders stand out because they know how important it is to have everyone on board. They will achieve that by putting others first and creating a safe place and a place everybody will feel welcomed.

I suggest you watch this and think about your goals and how you thought about getting there. I am sure you will see new opportunities after you’ve watch this video.
